Earlier this year, we invited the RIP.ie community to take part in a special competition to design our 2025 Christmas Sympathy Card. We were overwhelmed by the creativity and heartfelt stories shared. After much consideration, the winning design was created by Róisín Keegan, whose entry truly captured the spirit of remembrance and comfort.
The Inspiration Behind the Design
Róisín’s design was inspired by her beloved Grandad, who passed away in September 2025. The card replicates his hall door, a symbol of 83 years of family memories. The robin represents hope and comfort, inspired by his love of bird-watching and the saying, “When robins appear, loved ones are near.” The holly wreath in the design is more than a festive decoration. It’s a heartfelt tribute to Róisín’s Nana, who passed away on St. Stephen’s Day in 2012. Holly was her favourite Christmas symbol, representing joy and togetherness during the holidays. Including the wreath in this design honours her memory and brings a sense of peace and happiness, reminding us that even in times of loss, the traditions and love we shared continue to shine.
